OUR WORK
Since our founding in Summer 2018, we have worked with the Gladstone Park leadership to enhance the park's physical space and offerings. Some highlights of the programs we have assisted with and hosted are:
Butterfly Garden
Gladstone Park's Butterfly Garden was a project created and approved through 2018's 45th Ward Participatory Budgeting process. The Alderman's office, Chicago Park District, and Gladstone Park Advisory Council worked together to make the garden a reality. It was completed in the summer of 2019.
The garden sits at the north triangle of the park and provides beautiful natural space, plants for pollenators, a bench for relaxing and enjoying the garden, and a Little Free Library. |
Kids Night Out
Kids Night Out is a Park District program that is offered to parents and children. While the kids are having a night out playing games, parents can spend some time relaxing, getting things done, and enjoying adult time. It's the kids' night out, but you can share, right?
The Gladstone Park Advisory Council assists with Kids Night Out by providing pizza and goodies for the kids and partnering with local businesses that want to offer the parents somewhere to go in the neighborhood while they are child-free. To register your child(ren), go to the Chicago Park District registration site and search for "Kids Night Out". |
Silver Screen Series
Thanks to the generous donations of our 2018 Silver Screen Sponsors, Gladstone Park Advisory Council was able to purchase an inflatable movie screen and sound system to host multiple movies in the park during spring, summer, and early fall.
In 2019, the Advisory Council hosted 4 Silver Screen Movies (one as part of the annual Fall Fest). Several are planned for 2020 - check our Events page for upcoming dates. 2019 Silver Screen Sponsors: |
